McDuffie 3 4 5 A CEREMONIAL RESOLUTION 6 __________ 7 8 9 IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA 10 11 ____________________ 12 13 To recognize and honor Dr. Perétte Arrington, Head Coach of the Jackson- Reed High 14 School Volleyball Team, for achieving her 500th career coaching victory and for her outstanding 15 contributions to student-athletes and the broader community. 16 17 WHEREAS, Dr. Perétte Arrington has served as the Head Coach of the Jackson- Reed 18 High School Varsity Volleyball Team, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to excellence, 19 leadership, and mentorship in high school athletics; 20 21 WHEREAS, under her exemplary leadership, the Jackson- Reed Tigers have secured 23 22 DCIAA Championships, one DCSAA State Volleyball Championship in 2021, and two DCSAA 23 runner-up titles, setting a high standard for volleyball in the District of Columbia; 24 25 WHEREAS, Dr. Arrington has been recognized as the 2021 DCIAA Coach of the Year, 26 the 2021 DCSAA Coach of the Year, and the 2021 Washington Post All-Met Co-Coach of the 27 Year, reflecting her extraordinary ability to develop talent and cultivate a culture of teamwork, 28 perseverance, and sportsmanship; 29 30 WHEREAS, under her leadership, the Jackson- Reed Volleyball Team has been ranked as 31 high as #10 in The Washington Post rankings, showcasing their dominance in the region; 32 33 WHEREAS, through her guidance, countless student-athletes have excelled both on and 34 off the court, earning opportunities to compete at the collegiate level and developing invaluable 35 life skills; 36 37 WHEREAS, Dr. Arrington has achieved the remarkable milestone of 506 career coaching 38 victories, an extraordinary accomplishment that speaks to her dedication, strategic expertise, and 39 the lasting impact she has had on the Jackson- Reed community; 40 41 WHEREAS, her contributions extend beyond the volleyball court, as Dr. Arrington is a 42 clinical psychologist with the Department of Behavioral Health, serving as a role model, mentor, 43 and advocate for young people in the District while emphasizing the values of education, 44 discipline, and leadership; 45 46 RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, this resolution 47 may be cited as the “Dr. Perétte Arrington Recognition Resolution of 2025”. 48 49 The Council of the District of Columbia recognizes and honors Dr. Perétte Arrington on 50 achieving her 500th career win, commends her lasting contributions to high school athletics, and 51 extends its deepest appreciation for her dedication to empowering student athletes across the 52 District. 53 54 This resolution shall take effect immediately upon the first date of publication in the 55 District of Columbia Register. 56
