 SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 20 

   

 ENCOURAGING GOVERNOR MATT MEYER TO TURN DELAWARE PURPLE FOR THE MONTH OF APRIL IN SUPPORT OF DELAWARE'S MILITARY-CONNECTED STUDENTS. 

   

  WHEREAS, over 7,000 military-connected children reside in Delaware, facing unique challenges as they navigate frequent relocations, school transitions, and the absence of deployed parents; and   WHEREAS, many of these children will spend birthdays, holidays, and milestones apart from their parents, who are actively serving to protect our nations freedoms; and   WHEREAS, Delaware takes pride in supporting its military families and recognizing the sacrifices made by both service members and their children; and   WHEREAS, April is designated as the Month of the Military Child, a time to honor the resilience and strength of military-connected children across the country; and   WHEREAS, turning Delaware purple for the month of April by illuminating Legislative Hall, bridges, and toll plazas would serve as a visible and unifying gesture of support and appreciation for these children and their families; and   WHEREAS, Delawares participation in this initiative would reinforce the states commitment to recognizing and uplifting military-connected students, ensuring they feel valued and supported within their communities.   NOW, THEREFORE:   BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 153  rd   General Assembly, the House of Representatives concurring therein, that the members encourage Governor Matt Meyer to light key landmarks purple for the month of April in honor of Delawares military connected students.   BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be sent to the Governor, the Delaware Department of Education, and military support organizations to promote awareness and participation in this initiative.
