Section 222.25, Florida Statutes, is amended to 10 read: 11 222.25 Other individual propert y of natural persons exempt 12 from legal process.— 13 (1) The following property is exempt from attachment, 14 garnishment, or other legal process: 15 (a)(1) A debtor's interest, not to exceed $1,000 in value, 16 in a single motor vehicle as defined in s. 320.01(1) s. 320.01. 17 (b)(2) A debtor's interest in any professionally 18 prescribed health aids for the debtor or a dependent of the 19 debtor. 20 (c)(3) A debtor's interest in a refund or a credit 21 received or to be received, or the traceable deposits in a 22 financial institution of a debtor's interest in a refund or 23 credit, pursuant to s. 32 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, 24 as amended. X of the 29 State Constitution. This exemption does not apply to a debt owed 30 for child support or spousal support. 31 (2) Notwithstanding parag raph (1)(a), an individual debtor 32 under the federal Bankruptcy Code may exempt a debtor's 33 interest, not to exceed $5,000 in value, in a single motor 34 vehicle as defined in s. 320.01(1). This subsection applies to 35 any bankruptcy action filed on or after July 1, 2022. 36 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2022. 37
