An act relating to long -term cleanup of water bodies; 2
directing the Department of Environmental Protection 3
to procure specified technology for the purpose of 4
long-term cleanup of water bodies; providing an 5
effective date. 6

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 8

Section 1. The Department of Environmental Protection 10
shall procure the best available, innovative technology for the 11
long-term cleanup of water bodies. The technology must: 12
(1) Remove harmful algal blooms, toxins, and nutrients 13
from water bodies to address the growing threat to the public 14
health. 15
(2) Provide resources to reduce harmful algal blooms, 16
including tools to redu ce, monitor, and provide predictive 17
analysis. 18
(3) Provide emergency response action. 19
(4) Be scalable. 20
(5) Be proven to reduce nitrates and toxins that foster 21
harmful algal blooms and improve water quality in fresh water 22
bodies. 23
(6) Provide a low-carbon or direct-air-capture benefit. 24
Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2022. 25
