A bill to be entitled 1
An act relating to City of Key West, Monroe County; 2
authorizing a certain number and type of affordable 3
housing units to be constructed for certain public 4
sector governmental personnel under certain 5
circumstances; providing an effective date. 6

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 8

Section 1. Notwithstanding general law or any rule, 10
ordinance, or other law to the contrary, 50 units of a ffordable 11
housing as defined by the City of Key West may be constructed 12
for employees of the Monroe County Sherriff's office, as well as 13
other public sector governmental personnel, without regard to 14
any building permit allocation system provided that: 15
(1) The construction is otherwise consistent with the 16
comprehensive plan; and 17
(2) The sheriff's office has a hurricane evacuation plan 18
that requires all occupants required to evacuate to be evacuated 19
48 hours in advance of tropical force winds. 20
Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. 21
