Subsection (2) of section 843.22, Florida 10 Statutes, is amended to read: 11 843.22 Traveling across county lines with intent to commit 12 a burglary.— 13 (2) If a person who commits a burglary travels any 14 distance with the intent to commit the burglary in a county in 15 this state other than the person's county of residence, the 16 degree of the burglar y shall be reclassified to the next higher 17 degree if the purpose of the person's travel is to thwart law 18 enforcement attempts to track the items stolen in the burglary . 19 For purposes of sentencing under chapter 921 and determining 20 incentive gain-time eligibility under chapter 944, a burglary 21 that is reclassified under this section is ranked one level 22 above the ranking specified in s. 921.0022 or s. 921.0023 for 23 the burglary committed. 24 Section 2. This act shall take effect October 1, 2022. 25
