BILL: CS/SB 544
INTRODUCER: Senator Boyd
SUBJECT: Drug-related Overdose Prevention
DATE: February 23, 2022

I.Amendments Contained in Message:
House Amendment – 108283 (body with title)
II.Summary of Amendments Contained in Message:
House Amendment 108283 removes provisions from the bill which would require a school
district, after a public school in that district chooses to acquire a supply of naloxone, to adopt a
protocol for the administration of the naloxone developed by a licensed physician. The House
amendment also removes language that would provide immunity from liability for the school
district, as well as its employees and agents, and the physician who developed the protocol, when
trained school personnel administer naloxone according to the protocol, with some exceptions
and specifications.
