Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 8

Section 1. Section 836.131, Florida Statutes, is created 10
to read: 11
836.131 Falsely personating another. — 12
(1) A person may not knowingly perform an act as if he or 13
she were another person that, if done by the other person, could 14
reasonably be expected subject such other person to: 15
(a) Civil or criminal liability; or 16
(b) Any other liability, charge, forfeiture, or pena lty, 17

if such act was performed with the intent to unlawfully gain a 19
benefit for herself, himself, or another person or to injure or 20
defraud another person. 21
(2) A person who violates this section commits a felony of 22
the third degree punishable as provide d in s. 775.082, s. 23
775.083, or s. 775.084. 24
Section 2. This act shall take effect October 1, 2023. 25
