Section 252.3712, Florida Statutes, is created 16 to read: 17 252.3712 Nonprofit Se curity Grant Program. — 18 (1) The department shall establish a Nonprofit Security 19 Grant Program which shall consist of funds appropriated by the 20 Legislature to nonprofit organizations, including houses of 21 worship and community centers, that are at high risk for violent 22 attacks or hate crimes. The grants may be used to increase 23 security and safety, including, but not limited to: 24 (a) The purchase and installation of security 25 HB 1615 2023 CODING: Words stricken are deletions; words underlined are additions. hb1615-00 Page 2 of 2 F L O R I D A H O U S E O F R E P R E S E N T A T I V E S infrastructure, perimeter lighting, door hardening, security 26 camera systems, perimet er fencing, barriers and bollards, blast 27 resistant film and shatter resistant glass for windows. 28 (b) Hiring security personnel. 29 (c) Training for security personnel and staff on threat 30 awareness, emergency procedures, and first aid. 31 (2) The minimum amount of any grant award is $10,000, and 32 the maximum grant award amount is $150,000. The total amount of 33 funds available for the program is limited to the amount 34 appropriated by the Legislature. 35 (3) The department may use up to 3 percent of the total 36 amount appropriated to administer the grant program. 37 (4) The department shall adopt rules to administer this 38 section. 39 (5) This section expires January 1, 2028, unless reviewed 40 and saved from repeal through reenactment by the Legislature. 41 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2023. 42
