s. 40.013, F.S.; specifying that a woman who has given 3
birth is excused from jury service under specified 4
conditions; providing an effective date. 5

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 7

Section 1. Subsection (12) is added to section 40.013, 9
Florida Statutes, to read: 10
40.013 Persons disqualified or excused from jury service. — 11
(12) Upon written request with an accompanying birth 12
certificate, a woman who has given birth less than 6 months 13
before being summoned for jury duty shall be excused from that 14
specific summons for jury service. 15
Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2024. 16
