An act relating to excusal from jury service; amending 2
s. 40.013, F.S.; requiring that a woman who has 3
recently given birth be excused from certain jury 4
service under specified conditions; providing an 5
effective date. 6

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 8

Section 1. Subsection (12) is added to section 40.013, 10
Florida Statutes, to read: 11
40.013 Persons disqualified or excused from jury service.— 12
(12) A woman who has given birth within the 6 months 13
before the reporting date on a summons for jury service shall be 14
excused upon request. The excusal applies only to the specific 15
summons for which the excusal is requested. 16
Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2024. 17
