An act relating to hot car death prevention; providing 2
a short title; creating s. 683.336, F.S.; designating 3
the month of April as "Hot Car Death Prevention 4
Month"; encouraging specified entities to sponsor 5
events to promote public awareness on the dangers of 6
leaving a child unattended in a motor vehicle; 7
providing methods to prevent hot car deaths; providing 8
an effective date. 9

Be It Enacted by the Legisl ature of the State of Florida: 11

Section 1. This act may be cited as "Ariya's Act." 13
Section 2. Section 683.336, Florida Statutes, is created 14
to read: 15
683.336 Hot Car Death Prevention Month. - 16
(1) The month of April is designated as "Hot Car Death 17
Prevention Month," to raise awareness of the dangers of leaving 18
children in motor vehicles unattended and to educate the public 19
in preventing hot car deaths of children. 20
(2) The Department of Children and Families, the 21
Department of Health, local gover nments, and other agencies are 22
encouraged to sponsor events that promote public awareness on 23
the dangers of leaving a child unattended in a motor vehicle and 24
methods to prevent hot car deaths of children, including 25

educating the public relating to: 26
(a) Proper motor vehicle safety for children; 27
(b) The criminal penalties associated with leaving a child 28
in a motor vehicle unattended or unsupervised; and 29
(c) Steps a bystander can take to rescue a vulnerable 30
child in imminent danger, as set forth in s. 7 68.139. 31
Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2024. 32
