This act may be cited as "Ariya's Act." 13 Section 2. Section 683.336, Florida Statutes, is created 14 to read: 15 683.336 Hot Car Death Prevention Month. - 16 (1) The month of April is designated as "Hot Car Death 17 Prevention Month," to raise awareness of the dangers of leaving 18 children in motor vehicles unattended and to educate the public 19 in preventing hot car deaths of children. 20 (2) The Department of Children and Families, the 21 Department of Health, the Departm ent of Highway Safety and Motor 22 Vehicles, local governments, and other agencies are encouraged 23 to sponsor events that promote public awareness on the dangers 24 of leaving a child unattended in a motor vehicle and methods to 25 CS/HB 591 2024 CODING: Words stricken are deletions; words underlined are additions. hb0591-01-c1 Page 2 of 2 F L O R I D A H O U S E O F R E P R E S E N T A T I V E S prevent hot car deaths of children , including educating the 26 public relating to: 27 (a) Proper motor vehicle safety for children; 28 (b) The criminal penalties associated with leaving a child 29 in a motor vehicle unattended or unsupervised; and 30 (c) Steps a bystander can take to rescue a vuln erable 31 child in imminent danger, as set forth in s. 768.139. 32 Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2024. 33
