An act relating to the Gulf of America; requiring 2
state agencies to update geographic materials to 3
reflect the new federal designation of the "Gulf of 4
Mexico" as the "Gulf of America"; requiring 5
instructional materials and library media center 6
collections adopted or acquired by certain entitites 7
on or after a specified date to reflect the new 8
federal designation of the "Gulf of Mexico" as the 9
"Gulf of America"; pr oviding an effective date. 10

Be It Resolved by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 12

Section 1. (1) Each state agency shall update its 14
geographic materials to reflect the new federal designation of 15
the "Gulf of Mexico" as the "Gulf of America." 16
(2) Instructional materials, as defined in s. 17
1006.28(1)(a), Florida Statutes, and library media center 18
collections that are adopted or acquired on or after July 1, 19
2025, by a district school board or charter school governing 20
board must reflect the new federal designation of the "Gulf of 21
Mexico" as the "Gulf of America." 22
Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2025. 23
