A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Marci Fluellyn on her outstanding public service; and for

other purposes.2
WHEREAS, following her retirement from the purchasing field, Marci Fluellyn redirected3
her focus to her passion for public service in Lovejoy, Georgia, starting with her entry into4
the City Council on August 14, 2007; and5
WHEREAS, as the first African American council member in Lovejoy, she served with6
distinction for 16 years, bringing transformative initiatives to the community such as the7
now-annual Fall Festival, which now draws thousands of people into downtown Lovejoy8
each year; and9
WHEREAS, Marci's commitment to excellence further extended to essential community10
projects such as the Back to School Drive and Christmas events, which are now integral to11
the city; and12
WHEREAS, known for her spirituality, she generously shared her love for God as a guest13
speaker at local churches and club meetings, further fostering community connections; and14

WHEREAS, in August 2023, Marci qualified for and subsequently won the position of
15
mayor of Lovejoy, making history as the city's first African American mayor; and16
WHEREAS, alongside four outstanding councilwomen, Marci is set to launch a campaign17
within her first 100 days in office to gather citizen input, ensuring the community's18
aspirations shape Lovejoy's direction; and19
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this20
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.21
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that22
the members of this body recognize and commend Marci Fluellyn for her efficient, effective,23
unselfish, and dedicated public service; congratulate her upon her appointment as mayor of24
the City of Lovejoy; and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and25
happiness.26
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized27
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Marci28
Fluellyn.29
