23 LC 112 1702 Senate Resolution 11EX By: Senators Harrell of the 40th, Butler of the 55th, Gooch of the 51st, Parent of the 42nd, Hatchett of the 50th and others A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of Rose Ida Lubin; and for other purposes. 1 WHEREAS, Sergeant Rose Ida Lubin, known to her family and friends as "Rosie," was born2 December 1, 2002, to David and Robin Lubin and grew up the oldest of five siblings in3 Dunwoody, Georgia; and4 WHEREAS, Rose was an exceptional student throughout her life and an accomplished5 wrestler, flag football player, cheerleader, dancer, singer, and more at Dunwoody High6 School; and7 WHEREAS, following her deep and abiding faith and connection to the Jewish people, Rose8 made Aliyah, the return to Israel afforded to all Jews, after graduating high school in 2021;9 and10 WHEREAS, in March 2022, Rose enlisted in the Israel Defense Forces, where she became11 a combat-trained soldier specializing in terrorism, and was deployed with the Israeli Border12 Police; and13 S. R. 11EX - 1 - 23 LC 112 1702 WHEREAS, on October 7, 2023, an off-duty Sergeant Lubin bravely defended her host 14 Kibbutz and neighboring communities near the Gaza border from a brutal terrorist attack and15 helped get injured victims to safety; and16 WHEREAS, just weeks after the Hamas onslaught, Sergeant Lubin's young life was taken17 much too soon by another terrorist attack near Herod's Gate, one of the entrances to the Old18 City of Jerusalem, where she was stationed; and19 WHEREAS, Sergeant Lubin was an exceptional daughter, step daughter, sibling,20 granddaughter, niece, cousin, student, and friend who was admired and loved by everyone21 who knew her; and22 WHEREAS, Sergeant Lubin gave her life protecting and defending the Jewish people and23 all Israeli citizens from terrorism; and24 WHEREAS, Sergeant Lubin's sacrifice and memory serves as a reminder of the urgent need25 for peace to prevail in Israel and the surrounding region, where future generations can live26 without the threat of constant conflict. 27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body28 honor the life and memory of Sergeant Rose Lubin and extend the deepest and most sincere29 regret at her passing.30 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed31 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of32 Sergeant Rose Lubin.33 S.
