A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
To amend an Act creating a new charter for the City of Smyrna, approved August 27, 1931

(Ga. L. 1931, p. 955), as amended, particularly by an Act approved March 18, 1986 (Ga. L.2
1986, p. 3951), so as to revise the compensation of the mayor and councilmembers; to3
provide for related matters; to provide an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for4
other purposes.5
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:6
SECTION 1.7
An Act creating a new charter for the City of Smyrna, approved August 27, 19318
(Ga. L. 1931, p. 955), as amended, particularly by an Act approved March 18, 1986 (Ga. L.9
1986, p. 3951), is amended by revising Section 6(b) as follows:10
"Section 6(b).11
Salaries of mayor and councilmen; salaries of other city officials and employees.12
The mayor of the city shall be paid a salary of $37,500.00 per year, and each councilman13
of the said city shall be paid a salary of $25,500.00 per year. The compensation of all other14

officials and employees of the city, except as otherwise provided by law, shall be

determined by the mayor and council of the city."16
SECTION 2.17
This Act shall become effective on the first day of the month following the month in which18
it is approved by the Governor or in which it becomes law without such approval.19
SECTION 3.20
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.21
