The House Committee on Retirement offers the following substitute to HB 643:
A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
To amend Code Section 47-23-50 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to1
retirement benefits for state judges serving Fulton County, so as to permit the state court2
judges of Fulton County to participate in such county's defined contribution plan; to provide3
for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.4
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:5
SECTION 1.6
Code Section 47-23-50 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to retirement7
benefits for state judges serving Fulton County, is amended as follows:8
"47-23-50.9
Any person who becomes a judge of the State Court of Fulton County on or after July 1,10
2004, shall become a member of this retirement system by operation of law and shall not11
be a member of any other public retirement system; provided, however, that any such judge12
may participate in a county's defined contribution plan."13
SECTION 2.14
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.15
