A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life of Mr. Stephen Day and dedicating an interchange in his memory; and for

other purposes.2
WHEREAS, Mr. Stephen Day was born on was born in Decatur, Georgia, in 1952, and3
graduated from Georgia Tech's School of Industrial and Systems Engineering; and4
WHEREAS, through his company, Day Energy LLC, Mr. Day consulted on biomass energy5
projects and bought and sold hundreds of thousands of tons of wood waste that was6
indigenous to Georgia, which provided sustainable carbon neutral fuel for the state; and7
WHEREAS, a dedicated member of his community, Mr. Day served on several Gwinnett8
County school councils, multiple Gwinnett County waste water planning committees, and9
on the Gwinnett Board of Registration and Elections; and10
WHEREAS, his leadership and guidance were instrumental to the DeKalb, Gwinnett, and11
Georgia democratic parties; and12
WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, Mr. Day was an active member and deacon at13
First Baptist Church of Decatur; and14

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable and distinguished

Georgian be appropriately recognized by dedicating an interchange in his memory.16
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL17
ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the interchange of State Route 316 and State Route 120 in18
Gwinnett County is dedicated as the Stephen Day Memorial Interchange.19
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and20
directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Stephen Day Memorial21
Interchange.22
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized23
and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the24
family of Mr. Stephen Day and to the Department of Transportation.25
