24 LC 39 4252 House Resolution 1251 By: Representatives Gilliard of the 162 nd , Stephens of the 164 th , Jackson of the 165 th , and Westbrook of the 163 rd A RESOLUTION Honoring the life of Mrs. Francis Bright Johnson and dedicating an interchange in her 1 memory; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Mrs. Francis Bright Johnson was born on April 17, 1937, the beloved daughter3 of Robert Bryant, Sr., and Rosa Lee Williams; and4 WHEREAS, Mrs. Johnson was raised in Garden City, Georgia, and graduated from Richard5 Arnold High School; and6 WHEREAS, an active leader of her community, Mrs. Johnson was a lifetime member of the7 NAACP, served for ten years as chairperson of the Political Advisory Council, was a8 member of the Chatham County Federation of Democratic Women, and was a member of9 the YMCA and YWCA Executive Board Democratic Forum; and10 WHEREAS, Mrs. Johnson's significant organizational and leadership talents, her remarkable11 patience and diplomacy, her keen sense of vision, and her sensitivity to the needs of the12 citizens of this state earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and associates;13 and14 H. R. 1251 - 1 - 24 LC 39 4252 WHEREAS, she was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation 15 for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and16 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable and distinguished17 Georgian be recognized appropriately by dedicating an interchange in her memory.18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL19 ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the interchange at State Route 25/ U.S. Route 17 and State20 Route 204 in Chatham County is dedicated as the Francis Bright Johnson Memorial21 Interchange.22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and23 directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Francis Bright Johnson24 Memorial Interchange.25 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized26 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the27 family of Mrs. Francis Bright Johnson and to the Department of Transportation.28 H.
