A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Eric Mwangi; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Eric Mwangi is a Kenyan community leader, influencer, and mobilizer based2
in Atlanta, Georgia, with over 25 years of community service and youth development3
through sports and mentoring program; and4
WHEREAS, he is the executive director of two active nonprofit organizations in the Atlanta5
area, CHANCE Afrika and ABN Worldwide; and6
WHEREAS, CHANCE Afrika is an accredited and registered 501(c)3 nonprofit in the State7
of Georgia created in 2006 that seeks to help and support the development of kids through8
sports and educational programs; and9
WHEREAS, ABN Worldwide is the African Business Network, an organization created in10
2010 that provides a creative platform and forum for business networking and referral11
marketing in support of African businesses worldwide; and12
WHEREAS, he is also responsible for putting together some of the largest community events13
in Georgia such as Taming the Nile 5K Races to raise malaria awareness; Spring and Fall14

Family Fun Days at the Park bringing hundreds of attendees together and which showcases

Kenyan cuisine and culture with food, music, and games; and Atlanta Mashujaa Day a dinner16
gala celebrating local heroes who have done great things in the community; and17
WHEREAS, he is responsible for bringing in Kenyan investors to pitch their products and18
services to the diaspora and is a founding member and a former Marketing Director of the19
Kenya USA Diaspora Sacco who now sits on the Sacco Advisory Board; and20
WHEREAS, he is a proud father of three and a Marketing Vice President at Citibank; and21
WHEREAS, his significant organizational and leadership talents, remarkable patience and22
diplomacy, keen sense of vision, and sensitivity to the needs others have earned him the23
respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and24
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this25
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.26
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that27
the members of this body recognize and commend Eric Mwangi and thank him for his efforts28
of behalf of his community and state.29
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Eric31
Mwangi.32
