A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Mrs. Carolyn Lipscomb as the 2023 Distinguished Older

Georgian; and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, Mrs. Carolyn Lipscomb has been committed to serving and addressing the3
needs of seniors for more than 20 years; and4
WHEREAS, Mrs. Lipscomb currently serves as the executive director of Adventist5
Community Services South Georgia (ACS/SGA); and6
WHEREAS, Mrs. Lipscomb has provided aid to seniors living in 85 counties in central and7
south Georgia; and8
WHEREAS, Mrs. Lipscomb created the Food Bags for the Elderly program in 2001 to9
address senior hunger in Crisp County; and10
WHEREAS, Mrs. Lipscomb along with her husband, Hew, drive 1,500 miles each month to11
deliver an average of over 25,000 pounds of food to 26 counties in central and south Georgia;12
and13

WHEREAS, Mrs. Lipscomb has served for 15 years as a member and both chair and co-chair

of the River Valley Area Agency on Aging's Advisory Council, representing the seniors of16
Crisp County; and17
WHEREAS, Mrs. Lipscomb has attended every Senior Hunger Summit sponsored by the18
Georgia Department of Human Services Division of Aging Services; and19
WHEREAS, Mrs. Lipscomb expanded her outreach to seniors during the pandemic by20
delivering emergency groceries to seniors in rural counties; and21
WHEREAS, Mrs. Lipscomb continues her work to promote health and wellness in the22
community and plans to do so as long as she is able; and23
WHEREAS, Mrs. Lipscomb has shown true leadership in the Georgia Aging Network and24
her commitment to serving older adults and all individuals in need of assistance is25
remarkable.26
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that27
the members of this body recognize and commend Mrs. Carolyn Lipscomb as the 202328
Distinguished Older Georgian and extend best wishes for future health and happiness.29
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Mrs.31
Carolyn Lipscomb.32
