A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Vice President Kamala Harris and recognizing the first Friday

of October of each year as "Kamala Harris Day" at the state capitol; and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, Vice President Kamala Harris is the first African American, Asian American,3
and female vice president of the United States of America; and4
WHEREAS, Vice President Harris leads America as the 49th vice president of the United5
States of America and is the highest-ranking female official in United States history; and6
WHEREAS, Vice President Harris attended Howard University, a historically black7
institution of higher learning located in the nation's capital, and obtained her law degree from8
the University of California Hastings College of Law; and9
WHEREAS, Vice President Harris served as California's attorney general from 2011 to 201710
and served as a United States senator from California from 2017 to 2021; and11 23 LC 48 0898

WHEREAS, Vice President Harris has earned recognition and numerous awards for her

commitment to excellence and was jointly named Time's Person of the Year in 202013
alongside President Joseph Biden.14
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that15
the members of this body recognize and commend Vice President Kamala Harris on her16
exemplary service and achievements in her work as a public servant and United States vice17
president and recognize the first Friday of October of each year as "Kamala Harris Day" at18
the state capitol.19
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized20
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Vice21
President Kamala Harris.22
