A RESOLUTION
Commending the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce and recognizing February 16, 2023,

as Albany-Dougherty County Day at the state capitol; and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, Albany-Dougherty County and the Albany Area play a vital and ever-expanding3
role in establishing and maintaining Georgia as the No. 1 state in the country for business;4
and5
WHEREAS, Albany-Dougherty County is known for its innovative small businesses; Marine6
Corps Logistics Base Albany; global industries including Procter & Gamble, Molson Coors,7
Mars Wrigley Confectionery, Georgia Pacific, Thrush Aircraft, and ThermaCare; attractions8
and growing tourism industry; outdoor recreational opportunities; natural resources;9
world-class health care; and educational institutions; and10
WHEREAS, the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce represents and advances the interests11
of the business community with distinction; it leads the efforts to create a business climate12
that is conducive to economic growth and prosperity; and13
WHEREAS, in the aftermath of natural disasters and the COVID-19 pandemic, it played a14
key role in supporting, protecting, and enhancing the quality of life and commercial vitality15 23 LC 112 1320

of the Albany Area, and it convenes the talents and resources of strategic and governmental
16
partners for the benefit of the community and region.17
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body18
commend the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce on 113 years of excellence in serving the19
economic hub of Southwest Georgia and advocating for the Albany Area’s interests and20
recognize February 16, 2023, as Albany-Dougherty County Day at the state capitol.21
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed22
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Albany Area23
Chamber of Commerce.24
