A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
To amend Article 13 of Chapter 2 of Title 26 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated,

relating to food service establishments, so as to require notification of the country of origin2
of seafood items; to provide for a definition; to provide for related matters; to repeal3
conflicting laws; and for other purposes.4
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:5
SECTION 1.6
Article 13 of Chapter 2 of Title 26 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to7
food service establishments, is amended by adding a new Code section to read as follows:8
"26-2-378.1.

(a) As used in this Code section, the term 'seafood' means any fresh or cooked fish and all10
fresh or cooked shellfish, such as shrimp, oysters, clams, scallops, lobsters, crayfish, and11
other similar fresh or cooked edible products. Such term shall not include any canned or12
salted seafoods.13
(b) All food service establishments in this state that serve seafood shall conspicuously14
display on their menus, or on placards visible to the public, disclosures stating the country15
from which each particular seafood item originated."16

SECTION 2.

All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.18
