The Senate Committee on Rules offered the following
substitute to HB 117:
A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
To amend Article 13 of Chapter 2 of Title 26 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated,1
relating to food service establishments, so as to require notification of foreign imported2
shrimp; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.3
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:4
SECTION 1.5
Article 13 of Chapter 2 of Title 26 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to6
food service establishments, is amended by adding a new Code section to read as follows:7
"26-2-378.1.8
All food service establishments in this state that serve imported shrimp shall conspicuously9
display on their menus a disclosure by each menu item containing shrimp stating10
'FOREIGN IMPORTED,' or display 'FOREIGN IMPORTED SHRIMP' on placards visible11
to the public. This Code section shall not apply to a food service establishment operated12
by a state agency, as such term is defined in Code Section 48-8-14."13
SECTION 2.14
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.15
