A RESOLUTION
Recognizing January 28, 2025, as Physical Therapy Day at the state capitol; and for other

purposes.2
WHEREAS, the State of Georgia supports options for an active and healthy lifestyle; and3
WHEREAS, the American Physical Therapy Association of Georgia represents the public's4
best interests by recommending physical therapy provided by licensed physical therapists;5
and6
WHEREAS, the mission of the American Physical Therapy Association of Georgia is to7
represent and promote the profession of physical therapy with integrity, excellence, and8
collaboration, thereby best serving and advocating for the people of Georgia; and9
WHEREAS, the American Physical Therapy Association of Georgia improves Georgians'10
quality of life through the pursuit of improved access, stable provider networks, adequate11
reimbursement, and quality healthcare delivery; and12
WHEREAS, physical therapists in Georgia are held to high educational and professional13
standards such as earning a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and a state license,14

demonstrating continuing competency in providing examination and treatment for conditions

that limit movement and functional activity, and preventing the loss of mobility before it16
occurs; and17
WHEREAS, physical therapist assistants complete an associate's degree and are licensed to18
provide selected physical therapy treatments under the direction and supervision of physical19
therapists; and20
WHEREAS, each year, physical therapists and physical therapy assistants come to the state21
capitol to discuss the benefits of physical therapy and how it helps improve mobility, health,22
fitness, and wellness; and23
WHEREAS, the more than 10,000 members of the American Physical Therapy Association24
of Georgia provide expert examination and treatment of the movement systems to improve25
health, fitness, wellness, and mobility across the lifespan; and26
WHEREAS, it is estimated that more than 496,000 Georgians require the care of a physical27
therapist each year.28
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that29
the members of this body commend the American Physical Therapy Association of Georgia30
and its members for their continued dedication to promoting the health and wellness of31
Georgia's citizens by maintaining high standards of education, integrity, and excellence in32
practice as well as recognize January 28, 2025, as Physical Therapy Day at the state capitol.33

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
34
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the35
American Physical Therapy Association of Georgia.36
