A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending the National Association of Black Women in Construction;

and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, the National Association of Black Women in Construction (NABWIC) was3
founded in 1991 as a national organization dedicated to increasing awareness, representation,4
and opportunities for Black women in the construction industry; and5
WHEREAS, the NABWIC Atlanta Chapter was officially established in 2020 to advance the6
national mission in Georgia, providing professional development, mentorship, and advocacy7
for Black women in construction; and8
WHEREAS, NABWIC actively engages in community service projects to uplift and improve9
the lives of individuals in underserved communities, including its 2023 partnership with10
Seaborn Elementary School to create a Zen Wellness Space for teachers, its 202411
collaboration with HouseProud Atlanta to provide home repair assistance to seniors and12
veteran homeowners in Atlanta, and its 2024 participation in the African American Male13
Wellness Agency Initiative to support health screenings and awareness campaigns for Black14
men; and15

WHEREAS, the NABWIC Atlanta Chapter is dedicated to legislative advocacy, ensuring
16
that Black women in construction receive equitable opportunities, fair wages, and17
representation in government contracting and infrastructure projects; and18
WHEREAS, NABWIC is participating in the Legislative Brunch on February 26, 2025, at19
the Georgia Legislative Building, featuring key speakers Representative Angela Moore and20
Senator Emanuel Jones, to advance policy discussions for increased access to government21
contracts for Black women-owned construction firms, expanded workforce development and22
training programs at HBCUs and trade schools, financial support for women-owned23
businesses including grant opportunities and low-interest loans, supplier diversity and24
procurement opportunities to ensure equitable access to large-scale projects, and safe and25
inclusive work environments by eliminating discrimination and harassment in construction;26
and27
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this outstanding organization be28
appropriately honored.29
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that30
the members of this body recognize and commend the National Association of Black Women31
in Construction for its many remarkable contributions on behalf of the citizens of this state32
as well as extend best wishes for continued success.33
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized34
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the35
National Association of Black Women in Construction.36
