25 LC 112 3138 House Resolution 382 By: Representatives Sanchez of the 42 nd , McQueen of the 61 st , and Alexander of the 66 th A RESOLUTION Congratulating and commending Cobb Collaborative, recipient of the Georgia Reads 1 Community Award, for its dedication to literacy advancement; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the Georgia Council on Literacy is dedicated to improving literacy from birth3 through adulthood and recognizes that communities play a critical role in addressing low4 literacy rates; and5 WHEREAS, the Georgia Reads Community Award was established to recognize6 communities across Georgia that have formed partnerships of two or more organizations,7 sustained for at least three years, with a strategic plan and measurable results in literacy8 improvement; and9 WHEREAS, Cobb Collaborative serves as the local point of contact for the Get Georgia10 Reading Campaign, engaging a cross-sector group of child and family-facing advocates to11 support community-wide literacy strategies; and12 WHEREAS, Cobb Collaborative has fostered meaningful partnerships with Cobb County13 Public Library, Cobb Douglas Public Health, First Christian Church of Mableton, Marietta14 City Schools, faith communities, the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning, other15 H. R. 382 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3138 nonprofit organizations, and Smyrna Library to expand access to literacy resources and 16 educational support; and17 WHEREAS, these initiatives have led to measurable improvements in reading proficiency,18 creating greater opportunities for academic success and career development; and19 WHEREAS, the dedication and hard work of Cobb Collaborative and its partners serve as20 an inspiration to others, demonstrating the power of community-driven solutions to address21 literacy challenges.22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that23 the members of this body congratulate and commend the Georgia Reads Community Award24 recipients, particularly Cobb Collaborative, for their exemplary service and unwavering25 commitment to improving literacy in their communities.26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized27 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Cobb28 Collaborative.29 H.
