25 LC 112 3135 House Resolution 389 By: Representatives Corbett of the 174 th and Erwin of the 32 nd A RESOLUTION Congratulating and commending the Charlton County Board of Education, recipient of the 1 Georgia Reads Community Award, for its dedication to literacy advancement; and for other2 purposes.3 WHEREAS, the Georgia Council on Literacy is dedicated to improving literacy from birth4 through adulthood and recognizes that communities play a critical role in addressing low5 literacy rates; and6 WHEREAS, the Georgia Reads Community Award was established to recognize7 communities across Georgia that have formed partnerships of two or more organizations,8 sustained for at least three years, with a strategic plan and measurable results in literacy9 improvement; and10 WHEREAS, the Charlton County Board of Education is a recipient of the Georgia Reads11 Community Award for its efforts in creating a common "literacy-based solution-focused12 mindset" to impact student achievement; and13 WHEREAS, its mission has been and will continue to be to share the importance of "Loving14 Literacy for Life" with Charlton families and their children; and15 H. R. 389 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3135 WHEREAS, this work includes partnerships between the Charlton County School District, 16 L4GA program manager Julie Morrill, Ferst Readers of Charlton County, and more than 4017 local businesses and organizations; and18 WHEREAS, these initiatives have led to measurable improvements in reading proficiency,19 ensuring greater opportunities for success in education and career development; and20 WHEREAS, the dedication and hard work of the Charlton County Board of Education and21 its partners serve as an inspiration to others, demonstrating the power of community-driven22 solutions to address literacy challenges.23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that24 the members of this body congratulate and commend the Georgia Reads Community Award25 recipients, particularly the Charlton County Board of Education, for their exemplary service26 and unwavering commitment to improving literacy in their communities.27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized28 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the29 Charlton County Board of Education.30 H.
