A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Staff Sergeant (Ret.) Judith L. Cotten; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant (Ret.) Judith L. Cotten valiantly and courageously served as a2
guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United States Army for 21 years,3
retiring as a Non-Commissioned Officer in 2001; and4
WHEREAS, she is a lifetime member of the National Association of Black Military Women5
Inc., currently serving as the national secretary and a second term president for the6
Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter; and7
WHEREAS, as further testament to her dedication to the community, Staff Sergeant (Ret.)8
Cotten is the founder and national president of the Omicron Nu Xi Military Sorority Inc.,9
founder of the Omicron Nu Xi Military Auxiliaries Inc., a member of Delta Sigma Theta10
Sorority Inc., and more; and11
WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, Staff Sergeant (Ret.) Cotten is a faithful12
member at Shiloh Baptist Church in Jonesboro, Georgia, where she serves as the executive13
administrator, trustee chairwoman, and media department streaming facilitator; and14

WHEREAS, she has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time,
15
talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and state, as evidenced16
dramatically by her superlative service as a licensed realtor, life and health insurance17
producer, and real estate instructor; and18
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this passionate community leader and19
veteran be appropriately honored during this special time.20
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that21
the members of this body recognize and commend Staff Sergeant (Ret.) Judith L. Cotten for22
her effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia and this nation23
as well as extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.24
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized25
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Staff26
Sergeant (Ret.) Judith L. Cotten.27
