25 LC 112 3598 House Resolution 896 By: Representatives Parrish of the 158 th , Burns of the 159 th , Stephens of the 164 th , Kelley of the 16 th , Hawkins of the 27 th , and others A RESOLUTION Congratulating the Georgia Pharmacy Association upon its 150th anniversary; and for other 1 purposes.2 WHEREAS, the Georgia Pharmacy Association was founded in October 1875 in Macon,3 Georgia, by a group of Georgia pharmacists working to further the interests of pharmacy in4 the state; and5 WHEREAS, the Georgia Pharmacy Association advocates tirelessly for all involved in the6 practice of pharmacy, including independent pharmacists, chain retail pharmacists, hospital7 pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy owners, and pharmacy students; and8 WHEREAS, the association has been responsible for advances in education in pharmacy in9 Georgia, including establishing the first guidelines for pharmacy education and licensure in10 Georgia; and11 WHEREAS, pharmacists in Georgia have been leaders in innovation and discovery,12 especially in the formulation of products such as Coca-Cola and RC Cola; and13 H. R. 896 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3598 WHEREAS, the association and its members use their medical training and education to 14 improve the health and well-being of every single resident of Georgia through15 immunizations, medication therapy management, medication counseling, and more; and16 WHEREAS, as the Georgia Pharmacy Association celebrates its 150th anniversary, it17 continues to act as the Voice of Pharmacy in Georgia, representing the more than 14,00018 licensed pharmacists and 26,000 pharmacy technicians in the state as well as the millions of19 patients in their care.20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that21 the members of this body congratulate the Georgia Pharmacy Association upon the grand22 occasion of its 150th anniversary and extend best wishes to each of its members for future23 health, happiness, and prosperity.24 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized25 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the26 public and the press.27 H.
