25 LC 112 3610 House Resolution 910 By: Representative Burns of the 159 th A RESOLUTION Honoring and celebrating the 90th birthday of Mrs. Lee Ellen Hanberry; and for other 1 purposes.2 WHEREAS, Mrs. Lee Ellen Hanberry was born on March 30, 1935, the daughter of Troy P.3 and Willie K. Tebeau; and4 WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, she was baptized at Holy Trinity Lutheran5 Church in Springfield, Georgia, and she continues to demonstrate Christian principles6 through service and her membership at Wingard Memorial Lutheran Church in Clyo,7 Georgia, where she regularly attends worship services; and8 WHEREAS, on August 2, 1955, Mrs. Hanberry became the blushing bride of Henry William9 "Billy" Hanberry, and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage and were blessed with three10 daughters, Cheryl, Kay, and Robbie; and11 WHEREAS, Mrs. Hanberry is affectionately known as "Granny" to seven grandchildren and12 11 great-grandchildren and still has that special touch when it comes to rocking the babies13 to sleep; and14 H. R. 910 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3610 WHEREAS, she graduated from Springfield High School and continued her education at 15 Georgia Teachers College (Georgia Southern University), beginning her teaching career at16 Clyo Elementary School, where she taught the current Speaker of the House Jon Burns, took17 time for motherhood, and then returned to teaching at Effingham County Middle School,18 where she was a colleague of Mrs. Dayle Burns and remained until her retirement; and19 WHEREAS, Mrs. Hanberry taught middle school children English and literature, setting high20 expectations and encouraging her students to stretch and reach beyond their current horizons,21 utilizing thought-provoking activities; and22 WHEREAS, in addition to classroom teaching, she unselfishly served in additional roles as23 Spelling Bee Coordinator, Youth Author's Chairperson, Department Chairperson, Hardship24 Committee member, and GAE member, to name a few; and25 WHEREAS, Mrs. Hanberry is a very healthy and active lady, walking at least one mile most26 days while keeping her yard free of moss and debris, serving her community by providing27 meals and cards to others with a loving heart, displaying a positive attitude (the glass is28 always half full), and maintaining her high school label, "the peacemaker"; and29 WHEREAS, Mrs. Hanberry participates in the Clyo Homemakers Club, having served in30 several officer and committee positions as well as helping to hand stitch the quilt which31 funds their scholarship program each year; she enjoys cooking, sewing, reading, and32 spending time with her sister and cousins; and 33 WHEREAS, at age 90, she lovingly prepares and feeds four generations of Hanberrys each34 Sunday, ages one to 90 years; and35 H. R. 910 - 2 - 25 LC 112 3610 WHEREAS, she is a person of great strength and patience with a reputation for service, 36 fairness, kindness, and integrity, and by the example she has made of her life, she makes this37 world a better place in which to live, and it is only fitting and proper that she be appropriately38 recognized during this very special and memorable time of her life.39 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that40 the members of this body honor Mrs. Lee Ellen Hanberry for her unselfish, dedicated, and41 loving service to the members of her family and community; join in celebrating the42 remarkable occasion of her 90th birthday; and extend their most sincere best wishes for43 continued health and happiness.44 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized45 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Mrs.46 Lee Ellen Hanberry.47 H.
