25 LC 52 0694 Senate Bill 121 By: Senators Harbin of the 16th, Robertson of the 29th, Hatchett of the 50th, Dixon of the 45th, Burns of the 23rd and others A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT To amend Code Section 33-7-11 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to 1 uninsured motorist coverage under motor vehicle liability policies, so as to increase the2 minimum uninsured motorist coverage required under motor vehicle liability policies for a3 individual convicted of driving under the influence or reckless driving; to provide for related4 matters; to provide for an effective date and applicability; to repeal conflicting laws; and for5 other purposes.6 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:7 SECTION 1.8 Code Section 33-7-11 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to uninsured9 motorist coverage under motor vehicle liability policies, is amended by revising10 subparagraph (a)(1)(A) as follows:11 "(A) Not less than $25,000.00 because of bodily injury to or death of one person in any12 one accident, and, subject to such limit for one person, $50,000.00 because of bodily13 injury to or death of two or more persons in any one accident, and $25,000.00 because14 of injury to or destruction of property; provided, however, that such minimum required 15 coverage shall be increased to not less than $100,000.00 because of bodily injury to or16 S. B. 121 - 1 - 25 LC 52 0694 death of one person in any one accident, and, subject to such limit for one person,17 $300,000.00 because of bodily injury to or death of two or more persons in any one18 accident, and $100,000.00 because of injury to or destruction of property for an19 individual who has been convicted of reckless driving in violation of Code Section20 40-6-390 or of driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or other intoxicating21 substances in violation of Code Section 40-6-391, and that such increased minimum22 required coverage shall be maintained uninterrupted for a period of four years from the23 date of policy issuance; or"24 SECTION 2.25 This Act shall become effective upon July 1, 2025, and shall apply to all policies issued,26 delivered, issued for delivery, or renewed in this state on or after such date.27 SECTION 3.28 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.29 S.
