A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Charles G. Newton IV on his outstanding public service; and

for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, Charles G. Newton IV has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for3
the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the4
welfare of the citizens of McDuffie County, Georgia; and5
WHEREAS, he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time,6
talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state, as evidenced7
dramatically by his more than two decades of service as chairman of the McDuffie County8
Board of Commissioners; and9
WHEREAS, during his tenure, McDuffie County has undergone advancements in10
infrastructure, economic development, health care, and community services that have greatly11
strengthened the county's future and enhanced the quality of life for all its residents; and12
WHEREAS, through his exemplary leadership and advocacy at the state level, Charles G.13
Newton IV has secured resources for critical infrastructure projects such as the county-wide14
water and sewer system, road improvements, and the East and West Bypass; and15

WHEREAS, his accomplishments further include the championing of the county-wide
16
broadband initiative, the creation of a Boys and Girls Club within the county, and the17
construction of the county's new government complex; and18
WHEREAS, he has additionally served his community as a member of the McDuffie County19
Farm Bureau Board of Directors, the McDuffie County Board of Health, the20
Thomson-McDuffie County Water-Sewer Commission, and the Forward McDuffie Board21
of Directors; and22
WHEREAS, Charles G. Newton IV has served McDuffie County with honor and distinction,23
and his vision and unyielding commitment to excellence will be sorely missed upon his24
retirement; and25
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this26
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.27
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body28
recognize and commend Charles G. Newton IV for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and29
dedicated public service to McDuffie County, Georgia; congratulate him upon the grand30
occasion of his retirement; and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and31
happiness.32
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed33
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Charles G.34
Newton IV.35
