Senate Resolution 441

A RESOLUTION
Urging action to attract displaced federal workers to Georgia and to encourage federal

investment in the state; and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has been headquartered3
in Atlanta since 1946, contributing to Georgia's role as a hub for public health and federal4
operations; and5
WHEREAS, the presence of the CDC, along with various other federal offices in Georgia,6
has led to a highly skilled federal workforce within the state; and7
WHEREAS, shifts in federal employment policies have resulted in changes to workforce8
distribution and agency operations across the country; and9
WHEREAS, some federal agencies are exploring opportunities to relocate or establish offices10
in different regions; and11
WHEREAS, Atlanta, as the capital of Georgia and a major economic and cultural center of12
the South, is well-positioned to serve as a strategic location for federal investment and13
workforce expansion; and14

WHEREAS, Georgia seeks to strengthen its role as a national leader in innovation, economic

development, and workforce growth; and16
WHEREAS, attracting skilled federal employees to Georgia would benefit the state's17
workforce and economy while providing new opportunities for those affected by federal18
employment changes.19
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body20
urge all state departments, agencies, boards, and other instrumentalities to explore strategies21
to attract displaced federal employees to Georgia's workforce.22
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of this body encourage legislative action23
to support and incentivize employment opportunities for displaced federal workers in both24
public and private sectors within the state.25
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed26
to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the Governor, heads27
of state departments and agencies, and the public.28
