A RESOLUTION
Recognizing February 2, 2025, as Georgia Arts Day in Georgia; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, arts and culture embody much of the accumulated wisdom, intellect, and2
imagination of humankind; and3
WHEREAS, arts and culture improve the overall quality of life in Georgia's communities;4
and5
WHEREAS, Georgians recognize the arts and culture industry as an important pillar and a6
source of pride in their neighborhoods and communities; and7
WHEREAS, towns, cities, and counties, through their local and state arts agencies and8
councils representing thousands of arts and cultural organizations, celebrate the value and9
importance of arts and culture in the lives of Georgians and the health of thriving10
communities during Georgia Arts Day; and11
WHEREAS, through organizational spending and the resulting economic impact, the arts and12
culture industry generated $1.3 billion in 2022, supporting 19,734 Georgia jobs; and13

WHEREAS, an overwhelming number of visitors to Georgia report that their reason for
14
visiting was to attend performances, events, exhibits, venues, and arts and culture-related15
facilities; and16
WHEREAS, the arts and culture industry serves as a catalyst for generating economic17
impact, stimulating business development, spurring urban renewal, attracting tourists and18
area residents to community activities, and improving the overall quality of life in Georgia's19
cities.20
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body21
recognize February 2, 2025, as Georgia Arts Day in Georgia and encourage communities22
throughout the state to celebrate and promote the arts and culture.23
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed24
to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the25
press.26
