RESOLUTION
requesting the City and County of Honolulu to COMPLETE the original phase ii construction plan for Oneula Beach Park, including the construction of the multi-purpose community and recreation center, a comfort station, and outdoor showers.
WHEREAS, Oneula Beach Park is a popular recreational destination for residents and visitors in the City and County of Honolulu; and WHEREAS, Oneula Beach Park is a beautiful coastal area, with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, and provides opportunities for surfing, swimming, fishing, and picnicking; and WHEREAS, the City and County of Honolulu's Phase II construction plan for Oneula Beach Park included construction of a multi-purpose community and recreation center, a comfort station, and outdoor showers; and WHEREAS, the City and County of Honolulu has not yet implemented much of the Phase II construction or has simply abandoned much of that plan; and WHEREAS, the community has expressed its support for the implementation of the original Phase II construction plan for Oneula Beach Park, as implementing the plan will enhance the recreational opportunities available to residents, and promote the overall health and well-being of the community; and WHEREAS, implementation of the original Phase II construction plan for Oneula Beach Park will support the City and County of Honolulu's goal to create and maintain public spaces that are safe, accessible, and enjoyable for all residents and visitors; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Thirty-second Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2023, the Senate concurring, that the City and County of Honolulu is requested to complete the original Phase II construction plan for Oneula Beach Park, including the construction of a multi-purpose community and recreation center, a comfort station, and outdoor showers; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Mayor of the City and County of Honolulu, Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation of the City and County of Honolulu, and Chair of the Honolulu City Council.
