NO. 1473 THIRTY-SECOND LEGISLATURE, 2023 STATE OF HAWAII THE SENATE S.B. NO. 1473 THIRTY-SECOND LEGISLATURE, 2023 STATE OF HAWAII A BILL FOR AN ACT relating to health. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII: SECTION 1. The department of health and department of human services shall develop and adopt rules, policies, and plan amendments necessary to ensure that the state medicaid program covers medicallyneeded services, including applied behavior analysis services, for individuals aged twentyone and older with neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism spectrum disorder. SECTION 2. The department of health and department of human services shall apply for any necessary approvals from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to amend the state medicaid plan to provide reimbursements for medicallyneeded services, including applied behavior analysis services to medicaid-eligible persons over the age of twenty-one diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder.
