A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO INVASIVE SPECIES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 141, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows: "§141- Fine meshed nets; invasive species; permissible; registration program. (a) Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, fine meshed nets may be used for the protection of plants against invasive species, as determined by the department. (b) The department shall establish a registration program for purchasers of fine meshed nets in the State. (c) The department shall adopt rules in accordance with chapter 91 to implement this section." SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored. SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 3000.
