THE SENATE S.B. NO. 1176 THIRTY-SECOND LEGISLATURE, 2023 STATE OF HAWAII A BILL FOR AN ACT relating to birth certificates. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII: THE SENATE S.B. NO. 1176 THIRTY-SECOND LEGISLATURE, 2023 STATE OF HAWAII THE SENATE S.B. NO. 1176 THIRTY-SECOND LEGISLATURE, 2023 STATE OF HAWAII A BILL FOR AN ACT relating to birth certificates. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII: SECTION 1. Chapter 338, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows: "§338- Birth certificates; form; nonbinary. Any document that constitutes a certificate of birth issued under the laws of this State shall allow for "nonbinary" or "X" to be a sex or gender marker choice." SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored. SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval. INTRODUCED BY: _____________________________ SECTION 1.
