NO. 210 THIRTY-SECOND LEGISLATURE, 2024 S.D. 1 STATE OF HAWAII SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTING AND GENERAL SERVICES AND DEPARTMENT OF LAND AND NATURAL RESOURCES TO WORK WITH THE CITY AND COUNTY OF HONOLULU TO ESTABLISH COMMUNITY GARDENS ON UNDERUTILIZED PUBLIC LAND. THE SENATE S.C.R. NO. 210 THIRTY-SECOND LEGISLATURE, 2024 S.D. 1 STATE OF HAWAII THE SENATE S.C.R. NO. 210 THIRTY-SECOND LEGISLATURE, 2024 S.D. 1 STATE OF HAWAII SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTING AND GENERAL SERVICES AND DEPARTMENT OF LAND AND NATURAL RESOURCES TO WORK WITH THE CITY AND COUNTY OF HONOLULU TO ESTABLISH COMMUNITY GARDENS ON UNDERUTILIZED PUBLIC LAND. WHEREAS, the State has committed to doubling local food production by 2030; and WHEREAS, the State needs to utilize as many means as it can to realize this vision; and WHEREAS, one such avenue is the use of community gardens, which can strengthen community ties and produce substantial amounts of healthy, local produce; and WHEREAS, there are currently underutilized parcels of public land that may be suitable for food production; and WHEREAS, it is worthwhile to convert underutilized public land into community gardens to promote local food production and sustainability; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Thirty-second Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2024, the House of Representatives concurring, that the Department of Accounting and General Services and Department of Land and Natural Resources is requested to work with the City and County of Honolulu to establish community gardens on underutilized public land; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Comptroller, Chairperson of the Board of Land and Natural Resources, and Mayor of the City and County of Honolulu.
