H.F. _____ Section 1. Section 331.502, subsections 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 1 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 30, 34, 35, and 36, Code 2025, are 2 amended by striking the subsections. 3 Sec. 2. Section 331.508, subsections 3, 4, and 5, Code 2025, 4 are amended by striking the subsections. 5 EXPLANATION 6 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 7 the explanations substance by the members of the general assembly. 8 This bill eliminates a variety of duties assigned to county 9 auditors including: attesting to anticipatory warrants issued 10 by the board for the operation of a county limestone quarry; 11 carrying out duties relating to the determination of residency, 12 collection of funds due the county, and support of persons with 13 intellectual disabilities; collecting the costs relating to the 14 treatment and care of private patients at the state psychiatric 15 hospital; carrying out duties relating to the hospitalization 16 and support of persons with mental illness; issuing warrants 17 and maintaining a permanent record of persons receiving veteran 18 assistance; ordering the county treasurer to transfer tuition 19 payments from the account of the debtor school corporation to 20 the creditor school corporation; ordering the county treasurer 21 to transfer transportation service fees from the account of the 22 debtor school corporation to the creditor school corporation; 23 apportioning school taxes, rents, and other money dedicated 24 for public school purposes; carrying out duties relating 25 to school lands and funds; carrying out duties relating 26 to the establishment, alteration, and vacation of public 27 highways; carrying out duties relating to the establishment and 28 maintenance of secondary roads; notifying the state department 29 of transportation of claims filed for improvements on public 30 roads payable from the primary road fund; carrying out duties 31 relating to lost property; acknowledging satisfaction of the 32 mortgage by execution of a written instrument referring to the 33 mortgage for payment of a permanent school fund mortgage; and 34 receiving moneys recovered from a person willfully committing 35 -1- LSB 2602YC (2) 91 ll/js 1/ 2
