S.F. 168 This bill modifies provisions related to shared operational 1 functions and school district supplementary weighting. 2 Current law provides that a school district that shares with 3 a political subdivision one or more operational functions in 4 certain specified areas for at least 20 percent of the school 5 year shall be assigned a supplementary weighting for each 6 shared operational function. The purpose of the supplementary 7 weighting is to provide additional funding to increase 8 student opportunities and redirect more resources to student 9 programming for school districts. Under current law, the 10 supplementary weighting associated with a master social worker, 11 independent social worker, a mental health professional, and 12 a school resource officer is two pupils for the school budget 13 years beginning on or after July 1, 2022, but before July 1, 14 2035. In addition, under current law the maximum amount of 15 additional weighting for which a school district is eligible 16 in a budget year is 21 additional pupils. The bill provides 17 that the supplementary weighting associated with a shared 18 operational function in the area of a master social worker, an 19 independent social worker, a mental health professional, or 20 a school resource officer shall not count toward the maximum 21 amount of additional weighting for budget years beginning on 22 or after July 1, 2025. 23 -2- LSB 1481SV (1) 91 jda/jh 2/ 2
