  S.F. 512   Section 1. Section 614.1, unnumbered paragraph 1, Code 1   2025, is amended to read as follows: 2   Actions may be brought within the times limited as follows, 3   respectively, after their causes accrue, and not afterwards, 4   except when otherwise specially declared , provided that such 5   time limitations may only be altered by an Act of the general   6   assembly : 7   EXPLANATION 8   The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 9   the explanations substance by the members of the general assembly. 10   This bill provides that only the general assembly has 11   the power to alter the period of time a civil action may be 12   brought under Code section 614.1 (limitations of actions  13   period). Code section 614.1, governs time limitations for the 14   following civil actions: (1) an action involving penalties 15   or forfeitures under an ordinance; (2) an action involving 16   injuries to person or reputation or for a statute penalty; (3) 17   an action with respect to products resulting in injuries or 18   death; (4) an action against a sheriff or other public officer; 19   (5) an action arising from unwritten contracts, injuries to 20   property, fraud, and other causes of this respect; (6) an 21   action arising from written contracts, judgments of courts 22   not of record and recovery of real property and rent; (7) a 23   judgment of courts of record; (8) a judgment quieting title; 24   (9) an action arising from a wage dispute; (10) an action 25   arising from a malpractice claim; (11) an action arising from 26   a secured interest in farm products; (12) an action arising 27   from improvements to real property; (13) an action arising 28   from a claim of sexual abuse or sexual exploitation by a 29   counselor, therapist, school employee, or adult providing 30   training or instruction; (14) an action founded on public bonds 31   or obligations; and (15) an action brought by a county for 32   collection of taxes. 33   -1-   LSB 2550SV (1) 91   cm/jh   1/ 1
