S.F. _____ H.F. _____ Section 1. Section 256.9, Code 2025, is amended by adding 1 the following new subsection: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 69. Develop and administer a purple 3 star school initiative that recognizes applicant schools in 4 this state that have demonstrated a commitment to supporting 5 military-connected students and the families of such students 6 with the goal of increasing the amount of support that schools 7 in this state make available to military-connected students and 8 the families of such students. 9 EXPLANATION 10 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 11 the explanations substance by the members of the general assembly. 12 This bill requires the director of the department of 13 education to develop and administer a purple star school 14 initiative that recognizes applicant schools that have 15 demonstrated a commitment to supporting military-connected 16 students and the families of such students with the goal of 17 increasing the amount of support that schools make available to 18 military-connected students and the families of such students. 19 -1- LSB 1458XD (1) 91 jda/jh 1/ 1
