1 AN ACT concerning local government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Metro-East Sanitary District Act of 1974 is
5 amended by changing Section 3-4 as follows:
6 (70 ILCS 2905/3-4) (from Ch. 42, par. 503-4)
7 Sec. 3-4. (a) Commissioners shall be paid the same
8 salaries as the county board members from either St. Clair or
9 Madison County whichever is lower.
10 (b) The board of commissioners may, by ordinance, arrange
11 to provide employees and commissioners of the sanitary
12 district group, life, health, accident, hospital, and medical
13 insurance, or any one or any combination of such types of
14 insurance. The insurance may include provision for employees
15 and commissioners who rely on treatment by prayer or spiritual
16 means alone for healing in accordance with the tenets and
17 practice of a well-recognized religious denomination. The
18 board of commissioners may provide for payment by the sanitary
19 district of the premium or charge for the insurance.
20 If the sanitary district does not pay for the premium or
21 charge for group life, health, accident, hospital, or medical
22 insurance, the board of commissioners may allow withholding
23 and deducting from the compensation of the employees and

1 commissioners of the premium or charge for the group life,
2 health, accident, hospital, or medical insurance.
3 Insurance obtained under this subsection must be obtained
4 from an insurance company authorized to do business in the
5 State of Illinois or any other organization or service
6 offering similar coverage authorized to do business in the
7 State of Illinois.
