1 AN ACT concerning transportation.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding
5 Section 6-509.1 as follows:
6 (625 ILCS 5/6-509.1 new)
7 Sec. 6-509.1. Intrastate non-domiciled commercial
8 learner's permit and non-domiciled commercial driver's
9 license. The Secretary of State may issue an intrastate
10 non-domiciled CPL or intrastate non-domiciled CDL to a foreign
11 national who is ineligible to obtain a social security number,
12 if the foreign national presents to the Secretary a consular
13 card or passport from the applicant's country of citizenship
14 along with an individual tax identification number and proof
15 of residency in this State. An intrastate non-domiciled CDL or
16 CLP shall be for purposes of transport within the State. The
17 words "intrastate non-domiciled CDL" or "intrastate
18 non-domiciled CLP" must appear on the face of the
19 non-domiciled CDL or CLP. Applicants must surrender any
20 non-domiciled CDL, license, or permit issued by any other
21 state, if applicable. The Secretary shall adopt rules for the
22 requirements of the issuance of a license in accordance with
23 this Section.
