1 AN ACT concerning education.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The School Breakfast and Lunch Program Act is
5 amended by adding Section 2.3 as follows:
6 (105 ILCS 125/2.3 new)
7 Sec. 2.3. Supplemental aid.
8 (a) Subject to appropriation, for State Fiscal Year 2024
9 only and in addition to other amounts provided for school
10 breakfast and lunch programs, the State Board of Education
11 shall provide supplemental nutrition aid to participants in
12 the national school breakfast and lunch programs. A
13 participant's supplemental nutrition aid under this Section
14 shall equal the participant's State Fiscal Year 2023 actual
15 expenditures for providing school breakfast and lunch
16 programs, minus the participant's State Fiscal Year 2023 State
17 reimbursement under this Act, minus the participant's State
18 Fiscal Year 2023 federal contribution for school breakfast and
19 lunch programs.
20 (b) This Section is repealed on January 1, 2026.
21 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
22 becoming law.
