The University of Illinois Hospital Act is 5 amended by adding Section 8h as follows: 6 (110 ILCS 330/8h new) 7 Sec. 8h. Maternal milk donation education. 8 (a) To ensure an adequate supply of pasteurized donor 9 human milk for premature infants in Illinois, the University 10 of Illinois Hospital shall provide information and 11 instructional materials to parents of each newborn, upon 12 discharge from the University of Illinois Hospital, regarding 13 the option to voluntarily donate milk to non-profit milk banks 14 that are accredited by the Human Milk Banking Association of 15 North America or its successor organization. The materials 16 shall be provided free of charge and shall include general 17 information regarding non-profit milk banking practices and 18 contact information for area nonprofit milk banks that are 19 accredited by the Human Milk Banking Association of North 20 America. 21 (b) The information and instructional materials described 22 in subsection (a) may be provided electronically. 23 (c) Nothing in this Section prohibits the University of HB2519 Enrolled LRB103 25826 CPF 52177 b HB2519 Enrolled- 2 -LRB103 25826 CPF 52177 b HB2519 Enrolled - 2 - LRB103 25826 CPF 52177 b HB2519 Enrolled - 2 - LRB103 25826 CPF 52177 b 1 Illinois Hospital from obtaining free and suitable information 2 on voluntary milk donation from the Human Milk Banking 3 Association of North America, or its successor organization, 4 or their accredited members. 5 Section 10. The Alternative Health Care Delivery Act is 6 amended by adding Section 35.2 as follows: 7 (210 ILCS 3/35.2 new) 8 Sec. 35.2. Maternal milk donation education. 9 (a) To ensure an adequate supply of pasteurized donor 10 human milk for premature infants in Illinois, a birth center 11 with obstetrical service beds shall provide information and 12 instructional materials to parents of each newborn, upon 13 discharge from the birth center, regarding the option to 14 voluntarily donate milk to non-profit milk banks that are 15 accredited by the Human Milk Banking Association of North 16 America or its successor organization. The Hospital Licensing Act is amended by 5 adding Section 11.9 as follows: 6 (210 ILCS 85/11.9 new) 7 Sec. 11.9. Maternal milk donation education. 8 (a) To ensure an adequate supply of pasteurized donor 9 human milk for premature infants in Illinois, a hospital with 10 licensed obstetric beds shall provide information and 11 instructional materials to parents of each newborn, upon 12 discharge from the hospital, regarding the option to 13 voluntarily donate milk to non-profit milk banks that are 14 accredited by the Human Milk Banking Association of North 15 America or its successor organization.
